Engine Error:
Awesomium has crashed or something - couldn't create NewObject!

This is the error I keep on getting when I try to launch Garry's Mod. So let me explain what happens exactly. So I launch Garry's Mod and it gets up to this point. Once it gets to the "Finished stage" On the loading screen it crashes, and by this I mean nothing happens, it doesn't take me onto the main menu as usual. And finally after a bit it closes itself and I get the error pointed out above. Before you say, I have done these things: Reinstalled Garry's Mod, Reinstalled Steam completely, Verified the integrity of the game cache, set awesomium_process.exe and hl2.exe as allowed programs in my firewall and yes... I've restarted my computer.
And if you want to know, yes, I can run the game, I used to run it fine but I stopped playing for a while, not even long, like a month maybe, as I had exams and now I've come back and this happens. Thank you to anyone who can help with this.

Due to the fact none of the suggestions were working I decided to restore my computer to factory settings and reinstall everything which seemed to solve the problem
You have to delete and redownload the awesomeium.dll, I believe it is found in system32 although I'm not exactly sure. If you find it make sure to back it up first before you delete it.

If I were to delete it where can I redownload it from?

See what _Killburn said at the bottom, I'm stoopid

This problem is to do with garry's mod not my computer so I dont see why it would be in system32, there's no awesomium.dll in system32 because it's an addon that games have to allow browser support I believe.

What?
Jesus.
Awesomium.dll is for a browser yes... or a browser kit w/e. Either way Garrys mod uses it. So yeah you'd need it.
When you join servers the sv_loadingurl, you need awesomium. Etc etc. Blah blah.

Yeah, so someone telling me to delete awesomium.dll from system32 makes no sense as this file doesnt even exist? Anyways, I'm looking for a fix not a definition of what it does...

Are you on crack? How does fixing your problem make no sense?
You need that dll. It is found in the system32 folder. The link has a DL. Download it. Place it where it goes, and shut up.
*sigh*
Don't be a cunt to random people seeking help, if you took the 5 seconds you would realize that you actually don't have an awesomium.dll in system32. I don't have one and gmod runs fine. I would like to help but tbh I have no clue, I was hoping someone smarter than me like Code_gs or Robotboy would respond since I've seen them helpout with this issue before. :-/

Like really, the fact that you are that rude to some random guy boggles my mind, he said nothing bad to or about you and you came out of nowhere acting like the awesomium guru. I can't even imagine how you would act to people in real life.

If you thought about what you were saying you would understand how this makes no sense. A dll used in the creation of a game would never be found in system32, it would be found in the garrysmod folder. So you expect me to place a random dll in a folder where it doesnt belong? No thanks

Is your Receiver is off the hook?
Jesus Christ. If you read what he typed it was stupid. If you need the dll or not is irrelevant to the fact is, he wasn't listening to what people asked him to do. I'm not being a dick. I'm just saying it how it is. Sorry if that offends some people.
The fact that I'm rude to a random boggles your mind? You don't get out much do you. I wasn't rude. I was honest. And try to relax. If he thinks I'm rude he can speak for him self.
What's more insane, is you're the one who told him to get it.
Either way I'm done with this thread. To much derp's for me to handle today.
I'll leave with one last suggestion.
"IObit malware fighter" may cause this sometimes I'm told. So disable all anti virus and firewall software.

Thanks for your help! I appreciate the fact that you were kind about it and at least tried to help, but then again with forums like these theres always people who dont know manners so just ignore the other guy. Thanks for backing me up though! I appreciate you trying to help and if you find out anything else that could be useful please say so :)

I'm not being rude you're just not listening. And if English isn't your first language then fine, I'm sorry. But otherwise you have no excuse. This is common fucking sense.

I did listen to what he asked me to do, and I answered saying that there was no awesomium dll there for me to replace so I wasnt going to randomly add a dll to my system32 folder if it wasnt already there. And did you even read my post? If you would have read it you would see it said that my firewall has these programs as allowed applications.

I'm not listening to what? The fact that I'm being told to put a dll in a folder that doesn't need it? You don't need awesomium.dll in your system32, it doesn't even belong there. So I'm not gonna put it there. And if that is too much common sense for you then I'm sorry.

It not being there doesn't really matter if the application needed it to work but ok.
And yeah you said you firewall allowed them. That's lovely. But your AV (Anti Virus) isn't your firewall. Either you instead of adding an exception rule to your firewall and etc. Just disable them temporary first so we can rule them out as not being the cause.
Because thats how PC issues are fixed....

*sigh* It doesn't matter where it goes. He assumed it went in system32, your suspose to figure out where on your own by reading that website he linked. I don't care where it goes.

It doesn't need it there to work though. That's what I'm trying to tell you. And you can rule out firewall and antivirus, I just disabled both of them ran Garry's Mod and still the same outcome.

On the website he linked it also says it should go in system32, look, I appreciate you trying to help but you're just being rude about it and not trying to help at all. So thanks for your help but I'd appreciate it if you stopped posting things that don't make sense.
"On the site says sys32 but no go sys32 u no understand"
No everything is just flying over your head is all.
Anyways w/e good luck.
These suggestions on just replacing the module are ridiculous. I'm actually surprised that website's dll file is an awesomium module (it is) and not some just crappy malware (it could be?), but it's unlikely it's the right version at all for Garry's Mod.
Quit your bickering, you're in the wrong thread for that.
http://facepunch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=403 That is the correct thread, have fun.
However, if you're looking to solve your issue, try deleteing both "bin" folders within your garrysmod root.
This includes
steamapps/garrysmod/bin
steamapps/garrysmod/garrysmod/bin
I recommend a prompt restart after removing those.
When your machine reboots (if you choose to reboot it)
Right click on garrysmod within the steam client under "Library".
Click "Properties" followed by clicking the "Local files" tab.
Proceed to click "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE".
This will acquire any missing files for the game (the two bin folders you've deleted).
Afterwards launch garrysmod, hope this fixes your issue, have fun!

That's the main reason I didn't want to use it, as I thought it could be a malware and I didn't know how to test it.

Sadly this didn't seem to work. Anyone know what else I could do?
Those kinds of Awesomium crashes are usually due to Garry's Mod loading a wrong version of awesomium.dll because it finds one in your system folders and uses it instead of the one provided with GMod.
You didn't find awesomium.dll in system32, but have you looked in SysWOW64 instead? That's the equivalent of system32 for 64-bit systems. If you do find such a file, delete it and that should resolve your issue.

Sadly I could not find an awesomium in SysWOW64 either :/ although I did find an awesomium.dll in my documents folder, so I deleted all awesomium files that weren't related to garry'smod but still broken! This is so frustrating I might restore my whole laptop and reinstall everything see if that works :/

DLLs are shared by many applications sometimes. As also usually in a case like this. Thus this means it not being in the gmod directory doesn't mean Gmod doesn't use it or that it's not related. You don't seem to be understanding that.
This is just a shot in the dark but try copying awesomium.dll found in steam/steamapps/common/garrysmod/garrysmod/bin/ into SysWOW64 and/or system32.

They were in the documents folder. Any program using a dll found in a folder in "My documents" doesn't deserve to be on my computer. Now if you would please stop posting on my thread and go to the mass debate section cause it seems like all you like to do is prove people wrong

I tried that and I don't know if this will help at all, but when in system32 it had the same effect, but when in SysWOW64 it closed itself immediatly, like it opened then closed so I'm assuming it crashed but no error message popped up. And when it was in both it also closed immediatly, I'm assuming it was because it was in SysWOW64 though.

I'll do as I like thank you very much. However, my point wasn't where it was located so much as it was that you didn't seem to understand how dlls work. I was only just trying to help you understand.
