Crazy high system and compressed memory disk usage only when playing Gmod?

windows 10, hasn't happened before I upgraded.
upwards of 1gb, leads to drastically decreased performance in everything when i have gmod running.
this literally only happens with garrys mod, no other games.
any solutions?

6gb ram

some random ass 600gb hard drive
