can't open garry's mod - Help

i use garry's mod through steam, and i tried visiting steam support but couldn't find the help i needed there. garrys mod just won't open. i tried rebooting it. i made sure all the files were uninstalled and deleted. and i tried this multiple times but it still won't work. all the help for garrys mod at steam support didn't help me either. whenever i click "play" i get a little steam window saying "preparing to launch Garry's mod..." but then the window closes, and garrys mod syncs as if i just exited garrys mod. this happens every time indefinately. it just won't run at all.

When did this error occur the first time?

it's been going on for weeks, but only now do i really want to play the game. it is also happening with other games on steam as well so it might be a steam issue [editline]9th July 2014[/editline] i just only now realized it's also happened with borderlands 2, and is currently happening with left for dead 2 [editline]9th July 2014[/editline] now i'm contacting steam support in hopes i can find answers there. i'm posting a thread in their forums because i can never find what i need through the search

Garrysmod has had these issues many times in the past, for people who bought the game. It has happened to all platforms, including Windows. Heck, even Rust experimental isn't starting for me. I just have to load the exe manually. On Linux also, I need to rename the rust_Data folder, because it's case sensitive. Just because an opportunity presents itself to call someone a "pirate" or "hacker", sometimes it's best to understand the bigger picture. Heck, ask the guy for his Steam profile and see if it's in his list.

Its still gonna show up in the list of games dumbass. But if you have a steam offical look at his profile then they will ban him for having a fake steam cause that is jepordazing him. Anti-Cheat Engine is always on and it is gonna ban him later once its detected. Another thing Your pratically taking Garry Newman's money,work,time just to develop the damn game. So i suggest you shut the fuck up

Even though I partly agree with you, since no normal user would mention it's through Steam, because it's obvious, you can't assume it. There have been plenty of people with this issue who had the paid gmod.

well, actually... i figured it out. it was my anti virus software cockblocking me... i fixed the issue by uninstalling it... i didn't pirate the game... and mr.maliciousg seems pretty butthurt and immature calling people "dumbass" and everything [editline]9th July 2014[/editline] my anti virus software also wouldn't let me open multiple other games. [editline]9th July 2014[/editline] i did buy garry's mod legitamately through steam.
