My friend recently picked up Garry's Mod. She can't connect to most DarkRP servers, and various other game modes. She can run Garry's Mod just fine, under low settings.
Garry's Mod will crash to the desktop about halfway when trying to join a DarkRP server, giving no error. Simply just closing. I don't know what to do, or what to say to her. I'd really like to be able to play with her, so any suggestions would be useful. If I try some things here, and they don't work I will edit this main post about it.
I have a DxDiag from her computer, so maybe her specs will give you an idea to what is happening. Here is a link to that, and a dump file from Garry's Mod. Any suggestions are welcome. She will be out of town, but I will set up TeamView on her computer. Thank you!
I've tried connecting to single player before, then trying multiplayer - It doesn't work.
"-dxlevel 80" Launch setting doesn't help it
Running Steam as an admin doesn't help it
That's one old laptop...
I've seen it run more modern games fairly, on lower graphics. I don't think that can be an issue
It might be helpful to post the exact error she's getting.
She isn't getting one. She'll just be joining the server all fine, until Garry's Mod just randomley closes. No error is given. Garry's Mod, like the window just closes.
Check your gmod root folder for .mdmp files and post one here if it exists.
Happens to me all the time. Have never been able to fix it. A workaround that usually works for me is to start a singleplayer game before joining multiplayer.
And her computer went off. I can't connect with TeamView. I'll keep trying to get ahold of her, sorry about having to keep you guys waiting to see if the suggestions are working.

The "Connecting to Singleplayer, then multiplayer" thing doesn't work, I have tried that before. Thanks for the suggestion, though ConorS.
How much ram and video memory does she have? It sounds like one of these are the cause.
I think it's in the DxDiag. Anyway, I was able to get a grasp on her computer with TeamView. Uhm, there are a LOT of .mdmp files. Should I post them all, or just one of the more recent ones?
EDIT: Here is the most recent one.

Make it a public file
If I recall correctly, Windows XP has some issues with GMod, although I have a slight memory of it being Windows 8 instead of XP.
That was stupid, it should be public now. Sorry.
Wasn't there the -dxlevel 80
That basically fixed crashes for most people ?

That is another thing we tried, but the crashes still happened.

Run your dump through that for me
[Here] you are. I'll add the dump to the main post aswell.
Can you get her to do the following: run steam as an administrator and try that
If that doesn't work, can you tell me if she's an admin on the computer?
If she isn't then you have your problem

We tried it. Still not working. Thank you for trying to help, though!
EDIT: Yeah, she is an admin on the computer.
So, any other suggestions? I'm sort of out of ideas.
I'd suggest upgrading RAM to at least 2 - 2.25 GB if her computer allows it. Garry's Mod 13 uses awesomium for HTML menus, which is based on Google Chrome. It slightly increases RAM usage of the game. If it runs out of memory, the user is not notified about the fact. IDK why there's parameter "-32bit" in game's command line while the OS itself is 32-bit. According to Valve dev wiki:
-32bit - Forces the engine to start in 32-bit mode. Only useful on 64-bit Operating Systems.
