Crashing while downloading server files

Hey guys, I'd love some help

Heres my issue - My friend has a darkrp server that I'd like to play on. I connect to the server, start downloading files and right when the bar is 90% filled, it'll crash with no error. I've not come across this issue with any other server using the same map or darkrp mod.

I've tried every solution suggested on forums - verifying files, windowed mode, different video settings, editing config.cfg, running in compatible modes, launching as admin, uninstalling avast and disabling firewalls, uninstalling iobit software, updating video drivers, full reinstall of garry's mod, reinstalling all addons . .these are the tried solutions off the top of my head . .

I know of one other person who has the same issue while trying to join the same server (Mac user), while everyone else seems to connect fine ;_;

Random note . .at first it kept crashing while downloading a specific file . .so the server admin sent that file to me so I could install it manually. The game still crashes at the same point, only on a different file. It seems like the issue is server side? But I don't know why it's only happening to me and one other person so far :/
