• Broken Console?

Hi, Approximately two years ago, following an update to Garry's Mod, my console stopped working. "How did it stop working?" - you may wonder, well, thing is that it's there in the menu however i cannot interact with it whatsoever. This includes: - Closing the console window. - Scrolling through console feed. - Typing of commands. - Anything related to the console. I know that it has gone a really long time and i should probably have asked about this issue earlier however it didn't bother me untill lately as i no longer can progress and develop my skills in posing. (All the cool kids have fancy commands they can enter to make their stuff look good, this didn't interest me at all two years ago but now it does as i'm slowly starting to find my passion annoying, seeing as i have no way of improving without the ability to use the console. You have to understand that posing is something i really love so notbeing able to further improve is a bit of a pain.) I'd apprecaite any and all help with this, hopefully someone knows a fix for this...
Anyone?
Pretty please?
Seeing as no one has responded, you could always delete your entire gmod folder(save your models, addons, maps, server stuff and other thingies you want) and reinstall gmod. That usually fixes most problems. If that doesnt fix it, its most likely an addon conflicting
Alright, thanks.
Wow... I had some free time today so i though i'd try to restore Garry's Mod. I spent 5 hours backing up important addons etc. before deleting the entire game folder, reinstalled and re-enabled the console only to find out that the console is still untouchable... God fucking damnit...
I find it really frustrating how nobody seems to know any other way of fixing this problem... Is there any debug thing i could try and use? Anything that might get the console working again?
RIP my hopes & dreams...
Lol have you checked your keybinds?
Lol have you checked your keybinds?
I love you, seriously words cannot express how glad i am that you pointed this out. Turns out that the console command enabled through the properties conflict with the console option in-game, i removed the properties command and now it all works like a charm! If a mod reads this, you can mark the thread as solved.

You what, nigga? I did the best i could on my end but Tripps here is the first person who told me about the console option in-game. I've spent at least a days worth of time trying to fix this using different methods. Don't insult me when you have no real idea what i've done, dipshit. [editline]18th October 2014[/editline] Seriously, i have at least 10+ friends on STEAM that can vouch on how i tried dozens of things.

Wtf were you trying?
Wait was he being sarcastic about the keybinds or did i fix the issue lol.
Yes Tripps, you fixed the issue. And no, not a single other person suggested checking the keybind, instead i was told to reinstall/wipe Gmod. One friend even suggested reinstalling STEAM... But yeah, i wasn't being sarcastic.
To mark this as solved look above your first post you should see make this as solved click that.

Not if you don't know that there's a console option and keybind ingame. Now can you back off?
