Hi,
I'm installing some texture packs to /home/username/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/addons/, and they don't show up in the add on's tab in game. I extracted directly to that folder, I'm wondering if I need to do anything special like give them permissions? The game runs fine in steam, just the add on's aren't working for me.

Are you sure the addons you installed are updated for the new garrysmod format? Do they have an addon.txt file inside the folder root?
Example: garrysmod/addons/advdupe2/addon.txt
addon.txt is obsolete and is not required, Legacy addons are not supposed to appear in any menus.
They do have the addon.txt in their folders, and it's various textures (CS:S, ect) that I downloaded.
CS:S texture addons are not exactly legal you know.
Neither is speeding, but we all do it. Plus I own CS:S, but it won't let me share it from my other account.
Make sure the folders are all lowercase letters.
