I usually just join on a friend and play, but I keep having pings of 800+, so I went to the server browser, and every latency is over 1.5k.
Thinking something was wrong with my internet, i downloaded something and joined a server in Counterstrike. the download was it's usual speed and my ping was normal in counterstrike.
How can I fix this?
Your ping is affected directly by the latency of the server. Reasons for high latency are:
The server is not run on a good computer
You dont have a good internet connection
The server is being run in a place far away from you (ex) living in U.S and joining a U.K. server
heres a quick example of another problem that I'm dealing with right now.
My server is hosted in the USA and I'm actually only two miles away from it. my work place has a 110 mbs connection. however there are over 150+ devices connected to it. the server with no users shows 1156 latency often. so try turning off devices like a android or iphone, other computers not in use. check if any non-welcome users are connected too.
