• Gmod unplayable. Period.

I've owned Garry's mod for a few years now. The more that time passes the more unplayable the game becomes. 6 months ago i tried running gmod on a mac, no dice. awesomium just crashed with basically no reason. 2 months ago, got a new windows computer, I was able to join my favorite dark rp server but it was too laggy to stay. today: I was able to load and run gmod just fine around 12pm. I tried joining my favorite server and couldn't After that I went to task manager and bumped both hl2.exe's priority to "high" and awesomium's process to "high". after that I was able to run the server just fine.... for a couple minutes and then "lua panic not enough memory" alright... no problem... except I have a quad core computer with 8gb of ram, and 4.3gb of video memory. So I close out of gmod since it crashed, and try loading it again.... .... .... .... .... . .. . . .. . . . .. ... . . .. .. . . . after an eternity of it being stuck on the loading screen "Finished!" It finally crashed and gave me the message of "Awesomium crashed or something". Really? awh thanks awesomium that's so descriptive and helpful. So I close out and I reopen the priorities for hl2.exe and... awesomium is gone. The awesomium process has just vanished.... where does it go? So I check the priority for hl2.exe and... it's normal. so I reopen gmod and it's still stuck on "Finished!" Uninstalled and reinstalled. Same issue Uninstalled, reinstalled. Same issue Verified game cache all is well restarted computer Same issue restarted computer and "resort to last known good configuration" same issue did some digging on the internet and they suggest re-installing my OS? are you serious? I have to re-install my entire OS to get... Garry's Mod to work? Is this a game or a virus? because last time I checked that's what you do if your computer is severely infected with viruses. Now alot of this may seem very aggressive... but there's good reason for it. Back when I was having issues with the mac and gmod. I contacted gmod, facepunch, and awesomium. gmod told me to talk to facepunch, facepunch told me that they were trying to get ahold of awesomium with this pretty common issue and had heard nothing back from them. I contacted and made 4-5 tickets... which... not a single on got any kind of answer. Just total ignorance from awesomium. So... I'm coming here as a last resort how do I resolve this "Awesomium crashed or something - can't create New Object" issue? Or... do I need to ask for a refund? [editline]3rd July 2016[/editline] [B][RESOLVED][/B] Solution: Uninstalled and reinstalled gmod, right clicked and went to properties>Local Files tab>Browse Local Files>searched for "aw">right clicked Awesomium_Process.exe> turned off run as admin option. No idea how that worked, but it did. For anyone having general issues with "lua panic" try setting the hl2.exe and awesomium_process.exe to "high" priority. (Default)File location for awesomium: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\bin Incase you run into the same issue.

As Garry's Mod isn't supposed to run as an admin, I'm not sure the issue can be entirely fixed. We'll definitely be able to improve the fairly useless error message though.

Thanks for taking the time to read that long post :)
