Hello everybody, I'm actually creating a DarkRP server and i'd like to know the perfect tickrate, network settings, etc for my server. Here is the specs of my server : +700 mbps in download, 700 mbps in upload Intel Xeon 2,3GHZ 12gb ram There will be a lot of addons on the server running on rp_rockford_v2b French server btw. Btw if it's needed, i can add some RAM to my server. I'd like to run a 60-64 slots server, with obviously the best experience for the players and so i need help for the value like sv_minrate etc, if someone experimented could help me to determine these values for my server, would be awesome. Thanks ! Have a nice day ;)
Uh, how do you have 12 gb ram? Are you hosting from home or from somewhere else?

Yes 12gb. Still need help btw ^^
I have only seen ram sticks in 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. 12 gb ram just seems weird to me because ram works best in parallel.

12gb ram seems a bit overkill. Then again I've never hosted a 64 slot darkrp server with lots of addons, but still it shouldn't use more than 4gb.
Fuck I have a server with 24 gigs of ram SQL can be a hog sometimes when multiple databases are active Besides that I believe in trial and error. Depending on several factors (HDD speed, CPU clock, ram buffer) it can be difficult and inaccurate to pick a configuration that would be the most efficient. The reason I say this is particularly due to the "tickrate" and how it works. If you have a higher tickrate, the server will be much more responsive (great for gunplay), but you will require more power as you go. Similar to max_fps can also assist in performance however I have not done much in this market so i dont know how much of critical change there will be. anyways happy testing!
To tell you the truth. Intel Xeon 2,3GHZ You'll get the best of 25 players before your server starts to lag. I'd limit your slots to 20. Change your tick rate to 16 for DarkRP (assuming you have no cars) this will reduce the amount of data the server has to process per tick. Ram should be fine in your setup as SRCDS doesn't really need a lot to function. I've never seen Gmod to go over 1-2GB. Rates I'd follow this guide for setting it up. I normally allow a little extra than what is needed. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5386-HMJI-5162 Assuming your Internet connection is stable with 700/700 you should be fine. Normally you should try get your server hosted from a data center so players don't have to experience increased ping. (More hops to the server) Make sure the addons you get are the most optimized and up to date from the author that has released and PLEASE DON'T GET LEAKED ADDONS. It will cause much more headache than you can imagine. Unfortunately I can't just "Give you the config" as it all differs from server to server you will just have to find out what is right for your requirements.
12gb ram seems a bit overkill. Then again I've never hosted a 64 slot darkrp server with lots of addons, but still it shouldn't use more than 4gb.
Especially given SRCDS is a 32 bit application...
