Which option would be a better/faster choice?
Packing all of your addon contents into a workshop pack for your server or dropping it all in a fastdl server?
Playermodels that i use are around 20mb each, so if i put it all in a big workshop content pack instead of fastdl, would players be able to download it faster? I heard that workshop is faster if the files are small. And fastdl is better if the single file is bigger, such as maps.
You should just make around 2-6 content packs and upload them to the workshop. Thats what I did myself and they download pretty fast (100mb each content pack)
I agree with Coffee, this is what I do with my servers. A little bit of extra work but it really does pay off, makes your server faster to load into and feel much more higher quality.
The bigger the content the players have to download the less players you are going to get.
I refuse to join servers that need 300mb+ of shitty player models etc.
Crap like that doesn't make a server any good.
