• A question regarding reuploading content when you DO have the creators permission?

Is reuploading content with permission from the original creator considered rule breaking or a violation? Of course I'm talking about content that is not a duplicate or already on the workshop but something taken down, in this case due to the creator quitting workshop, and then someone else (myself) reuploading it? Does it violate any rules if they give me their permission and openly support me reuploading it? I'd really like to have this cleared up, since reuploading with credit makes complete sense. If you are stealing someones work or reuploading behind their back, then I'd see that as actual violation. What is the clear cut rule here? I'd just like to know for future reference and to know I'm not overstepping anything. I'd get it if the creator had been stolen from or if I had reuploaded something without permission, say like a mod that previously had a backdoor, but this isn't the case. I even state they are reuploads and I have the full suppot from the creators. Are the people saying I'm breaking rules correct or are they just creating a reason to attack me? I personally would like to know. Mostly because the person who is saying this, along with their friends, has previous problems with me and I think is creating drama out of nothing. TLDR: You know the creator of content, they give you permission to reupload their work since they took down their workshop items due to them wanting to leave workshop and you reupload it. Are people able to say you are breaking workshop rules? I have had no strikes against my content but I have a small group of very annoying people claiming that "Reuploads are not allowed, even with credit." The people claiming I cannot reupload anything even with the creators permission (the creators are on my FL/gave me open permission) claim that it is unacceptable and breaking the rules. Which makes zero sense. Thanks!
Provided you can provide proof, you will not be banned.
The content has not been struck yet or had anything filed against it so I am not worried about a ban. If anyone comes needing credit or proof I can just direct them to that since I'm in contact with the creators in question. Anyone I reuploaded from I asked first, friended and made sure it wasn't a duplicate of content. It's just random shit for my roleplay servers that they took down and were more than happy for me to put back up. I'm just wondering what the exact rule is. So if you have proof, and the creator says it okay, reuploading is fine? Therefore the statement: "Reuploading anything is a violation," would be incorrect. Not that you've said that but others have. I'm just making sure I'm clear on this.
That should probably be said on the wiki page.
I agree. People are using that page as the word of law, instead of actually checking. To the point of harassing users and starting shit over either rules that make no sense or edits people made to the Wiki. I mean, I used the Wiki as proof in the past but thinking about it logically it makes no sense. Rules either change or evolve over time and the best way to find out if something is wrong/rule breaking is to ask.
Does this relate to? https://lab.facepunch.com/gmodhelp/euzp/workshop_addon_banned_unlisted_plasmid_swep_pack/page/1

That was completely my bad and a pretty clear violation of the rules. The content in question is a model packs that I reuploaded since the creator quit the workshop. The Plasmid pack was reuploaded by me, with the removal of some code and since I thought it was "fair use" I fought it when the fact was I was wrong. I didn't have permission and removing one line of code doesn't change that or make it mine. I thought I was genuinely right and doing something good but I was just breaking the rules. The content in question for this thread is something completely different/that has been on the workshop since 2015. I also uploaded it with the creators permission and have proof of such since I would be breaking rules to reupload something that wasn't mine without asking. I'm just wondering so that I don't overstep any other boundaries. From what I understand is that if it a reupload that isn't a duplicate of something already on the workshop and you have the creators full permission and proof is fine. If something is a reupload, even if change a few lines of code and you don't have permission in the first place is not okay and a clear violation of the rules. I'm just trying to make that clear distinction and confirm that is correct. The models in question have not been struck or flagged and I doubt they will be as I have full permission and proof. I simply just want to know this for my own piece of mind and so that users don't get mistaken. Since there are users who truly believe that even with consent and proof from a creator you still cannot reupload content. I just wanted to be clear that if something has the creators consent and isn't a duplicate it is okay to be reuploaded.
