~52 MiB is the size of compressed .gma which is then decompressed into ~305 MiB after downloading. Default addon publishing tools have support for compression.

Uhh, no. The size of uploaded .gma is ~52 MiB, it only becomes ~300 MiB after it has been downloaded onto your computer and decompressed.
