• Microphone Audio Quality Troubles

Hey everyone, just recently in Gmod when I join a multiplayer server and use my microphone the quality sounds absolutely terrible. The first thing that came to mind was that it was just my mic that was starting to act up but, this was not the case. Whenever I play Gmod now everyone's mic sounds terrible, not just mine and it is only when I'm in Gmod in any other game the mics sound just fine. I have played around with all of the microphone and audio settings to see if anything got messed up, and none seem to bring the quality back to what it once was. This is completely client side and my mic sounds fine to everyone else but myself. So I know it is an audio quality problem, and I really need to find a fix to it.
Also, when I change the audio quality option from High, Medium, and Low nothing seems to change at all. Doesn't seem to get better or worse.
Is this a recent issue? Did voice sound not crappy before now? Id blame it on the antiquated voice codec, but if it's a recent issue then I'm out of ideas
Yeah happened pretty recently. The microphone quality in Gmod has always been pretty decent, but out of the blue it has been really bad for me.
Do you guys think the new steam update with the voices will fix this issue?
I hear it was an issue with other players on the steam beta client. Think it was patched.
If that's the case, it has not been patched yet. Went ahead and reinstalled gmod, the issue is still there.
Go to ALT+TAB (ingame browser thing) > Settings > Microphone. Try clicking detect, or maybe steam selected a bad microphone (webcam mic or default computer mic)
