Hi there,
i have a simple question...
Whats the perfect tickrate and fps_max for a 54 Slot darkrp server?
Because on 30 players+ the framerate of all starts to drop like hell..
my stats:
Intel® Core™ i7-4770
Quad-Core Haswell
inkl. Hyper-Threading-Technologie
RAM 32 GB DDR3
2 x 2 TB SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 rpm
bandwidth 200 MBit/s
garrysmod is running on x64 debian 7
fps_max shouldn't matter, tickrate 33.
fps_max matters for clients. Well, they have to set the value themself, not the server.
What would you say is the best tickrate for a 24 player TTT server? Doesn't lowering it make accuracy worse, or the other way around?

33 vs 66 tick is no big difference in GMod. However, CS-GO and those FPS games require a higher tick, the higher the tick, the more accurate the server becomes because it updates more frequently. For a TTT server you can go as low as 16 tick without noticing a big difference, but I would suggest sticking to 33.
Servers like the old ~120 slot Cinema server went for 8 tick because it didn't have to be accurate at all, which resulted in that they could support such a high amount of players.
How big of an accuracy difference is 66 vs 33, because with 24 players there isn't much lag on 66

Close to nothing.

So this would be fine for any Garrys mod server including TTT?

You should be fine, leave fps_max alone although since I posted in this thread (5 months ago) I've learned the difference between 66 tickrate and 33 tickrate is a bit more than noticeable on TTT. If you can I suggest using a tickrate of 66.
For non RP gamemodes use the default tickrate of 66 ( Means don't touch it )
This is what I use for a 60 slot DarkRP server. Not saying they are the best but it works perfect for me.
net_splitpacket_maxrate 300000
sv_maxrate 0
sv_minrate 150000
sv_maxupdaterate 99
sv_maxcmdrate 99
sv_timeout 120
sv_minupdaterate 10
fps_max 0
33 tick

On our 50 slot server, we currently have -tickrate set to 11 since the server lagged out intensely at 66 and moderately at 33. We're running without problems at 11.

I've never played TTT on a lower tickrate, but I can tell you that ragdolls do appear to move laggier as a result of using a lower framerate on it.

close to nothing if you've never played an fps game before maybe, trying to do actual aiming on 33 tickrate is awful

Depends on what you are willing to sacrifice. Server interruptions or lower framerate.
Server interruptions meaning that during the interruption, the server isn't registering anything that happens on the server.
Lower framerate meaning the server registers updates on what's happening less frequently.
If the host can't handle the amount of players, lowering tickrate is the only noticeable change you can do. Apart from that the only other noticeable thing you can do is optimizing/removing addons.

Ok Thanks!

I realize pretty well this is late besides the posts above me, TTT needs a high ticktrate or your deag shots dont detect that well, hopefully you found this out on your own and bumped it some.
what would be suggested for a starwarsrp server with 80, 90, or 100 player slots? I just upgraded my home internet connection recently to 100/100mb I don't have all the hardware needed yet but atm I'm still in the planning phase and just looking for what the best setting would be for the server. I know 30fps for the client is pretty low but I want players to atleast get 30 in most cases.
