hi.
i've been looking for a good gmod server host, to host a 16 slot buildserver.
i've been looking at "Xenonservers" and "Lowpings".
would you recommand any of these hosts, or someone else?
i live in Europe btw.
thanks
sorry for my bad english, it isnt my first language.
Hmmm, for build I dunno. If you're not tight on cash I'd look at a dedicated CPU VPS.
You can get them for $20-30 a month and offer you so much more flexibility with hosting. Either way, just don't go with Xenonservers ;).
I hear brohoster was doing pretty w- oh wait
www.wydservers.net Really epic service. Powerful they offer a europe datacenter. Windows and really cheap
Xenonservers. Always.
They are way too expensive. 10 slot for $20 a month.
try gmod.eu very good host

When they first started out it was like five bucks for a ten slot, wonder why it's different now.
I got a 31 slot with Xenonservers for 20$.. its cheap, I don't know WTF you guys are talking about lol

Not sure how they work out that...
try gmod.eu very good host
Erm... no, ideal hosting own that and they just try and charge you for everything, their gmod community charges you for everything. They changed garrys title to try and make it look like it was garry who owned it. Just stay away from them.
depends where you are, I live in the UK, and I went with Xenon and the ping was insanely high.
Feel free to check our Garry's Mod servers out. Unfortunately we currently only have stock in New York. If you want to try some servers we host or if you have any questions feel free to send me a PM.
We will have stock in Germany within the next couple of weeks, if you can't wait until then I'd recommend http://nitrous-networks.co.uk.
BBServers never let me down when I previously hosted with them.
Quick and easy for a build server.

Thanks for the recommendation there Jonnerz3D :)

Just buy a dedi from nfoservers.com
Nitrous-Networks or Jargen are the best servers providers you can get for Garry's Mod.

Jargen is a massive dick. I would not trust him with server hosting or my money. From that thread, it seems like he just wants hard $ and not the quality of his server hosting.
If any, I'd say NFOservers. Only heard good stuff from there.

I was going to do that until I spoke with there staff, there VPS (VDS) are much better suited towards gmod.
They cannot be as strict or efficient with there abuse ACL's on the dedicated boxes. Where as the VDS is cheaper and faster. I've 12 cores (4xe1230 and 8x5690) for $259 from them, with there abuse ACL protection.

You clearly haven't met him he is a good guy and he is very trustable.
You clearly haven't met him he is a good guy and he is very trustable.
Personally I wouldn't trust a host that's breaking European laws and all hosting standards by almost taking a shit on their customers.
Also he's lurking this thread, I'm just waiting for an argument here.
You clearly haven't met him he is a good guy and he is very trustable.
Well obviously I haven't met him, we're on an internet forum and the guy is from another country than I am. From what he has said in that thread, I believe most of us would not trust him. Saying he's trustable because "you clearly haven't met him" won't work here, I don't expect to meet people from other countries I've met on an internet site to randomly pop up at the supermarket.

what laws?
what laws?
There's certain laws regarding sales of online hosting and distribution, for example that all hardware breakdown would legally have to be replaced by the company that's renting out the machine.
Jargen can not be held responsible for any issues with your server, including and not limited to: Damages caused by Jargen Staff, Hardware issues, External Attacks to your server. If you have any issues raise a support ticket and we will do our best to fix it.
No matter what their Terms of Service says, they're fully responsible for any hardware issues and even (I think) certain damage applied to files hosted by their service.
Also, Jargen's ToS is basically saying that if anything "they" don't like happens, they'll cancel your service under any reason given, which almost any host has in their ToS (rightfully so) but the way it's explained is ridicoulus, and ends up formulated as "Don't try shit" rather than "Use our service in a respectfull manner", which is honestly a dick move however I'm not sure if there's any laws about it.
There's some reasons however that they can not cancel your service as a reason for, for example certain cases regarding resource usages.
If you've purchased a "16-Slot Garry's Mod server", a list of reserved resources are required accessable for the client for him to know if he's breaking said limit or not, otherwise it's just a human factor whether his service lives or dies, and again it's a dick move however I'm not sure if there's any laws about it.
Regarding the "No refunds" fad that's been going on around Garry's Mod server hosters, if you've made a service agreement with a client regarding the purchase of a service (The game server), the client can choose to cancel the order at any given point untill it's been used (Gone online)
To be honest, looking at the overall service I'm surprised to say that it's actually WHMCS verified.
No matter what their Terms of Service says, they're fully responsible for any hardware issues and even (I think) certain damage applied to files hosted by their service.
Hardware - Well, yea. They have to replace broken hardware themselves if it's rented, kinda obvious. They do NOT however have to cover for short downtimes etc, depends what SLA they offer.
As for data loss there are NO covers required - and I don't know of ANY host would pay for damages to your files, that's just stupid. It's up to the client to purchase or maintain adequate backup systems unless otherwise advertised.
I don't think WHMCS really verify things? There just a payment system really. The only real law you where right on is the hardware one.
If you have an extra PC, and good internet ( I hear its pretty fast in Europe compared to America ) I recommend hosting it yourself. It works great for me.
I personally use UKGame, but that's just my opinion though.
I use RedSpeedServers.com and they provide such reasonable prices with DDoS protection. They've been having some down time with there datacenter, so they switched over to Dallas, TX and provided free DDoS protection.
As for getting a maybe like a Dedicated such, I recommend getting nfoservers.com VPS 2 core. Its the best one to have to hold some number of servers. I hosted 2 PERP servers, 1 DarkRP, and 1 Build servers with no lag at all. Of a course the servers wernt fully packed.
