Stuck at "Scanning for Steam games updates" Forever

For some reason everytime i restart steam it goes on "Scanning for Steam games updates" forever... i left for like half an hour ... And it was still "Scanning for Steam games updates" ...What the fuck is happening..I can't play my steam games :( help!

go to your steam (like C:/Program Files/Steam or whatever yours is) folder, and there is a file called clientregistry.blob (it may be the other one, appupdatestats, maybe wait for clarification), delete that then start steam

for those who are looking how to fix it now just move left 4 dead 2 common in steamapps somewhere else and let it download.

There is fixes yes, but the main reason is because valve didnt plan for l4d2 properly and there daft twats :/

I've got this problem too. I've tried moving Left4Dead common into steamapps, but it doesn't work. I've also deleted the .blob file, and it's still the same.

I'm assuming I've just got to wait, right?

EDIT: ok, it's working now. Just had to wait.
