is it possible to get a spare key for a friend? I noticed there is 21,500 or so keys on the site activated yet only 6,100 given out, I really want to give my friend a key but he'll probably never get one considering he doesn't have the time to spam refresh the page.

There where a lot of gives given out in other ways.
I don't think you can refer a friend. I got mine from emailing Garry before the beta started. I know a LOT of people did also. Don't email him now though...
