• Xenon Hosting vs. Nuclear Fallout Hosting?
    35 replies, posted
I'm currently hosting a Garry's mod server with Xenon Hosting, it's great because it is cheap, but it gets laggy quick. And the server has become very popular, so it's often full with 30/30. (Raid & Print RP) Therefore, it's exceptionally laggy at 30/30. So I'm considering changing hosts to Nuclear Fallout Hosting. I've heard good things from a friend about them, and they look reliable, but how do they compare? It's a little more expensive, but is it worth it pay $15 extra a month? Which would be a more reliable host?

The reason Xenon lags is because they overpack all their boxes with a lot of servers, you should possibly in the future stay away from them.
Xenon = 17 year old kids who think they know everything about servers and lag, then lie out of their asses. Don't ever use them. Ever.
Nuclear Fallout - By FAR... I'm going to PM you why and you shall love them.

If your business or wesbite needs advertising then why not apply for a free advertisment at www.freeukadvertisment.co.uk If you fancy being entered into a Competition ware you could WIN £1000 then go to www.freeukadvertisement.co.uk/competition

+1 for Nuclear Fallout Been using them for over a year. People play on my server mainly because its way less laggy than most running the same gamemode. Support is always fast to respond and always very helpful. Auto SVN stuff is also really nice. Their control panel seems to be in-house made so they seem to know whats going on. They also have an auto websync feature for FastDownload. I have dedicated web boxes that i pay hundreds for (my business websites) but i would rather spend the $10-20 (USD) to save the headache of having to work with SRCDS.
I've never had a host as awesome as NFO before, and if you go for VDS there perfectly suited for Gmod and very cheap. You can also contact them to get a list of CPU's available. I got all my VDS systems moved onto x31270 or x5890 boxes with them :). Plus they have some rather unique setups that allow them to filter unwanted traffic.
I have a VDS on NFO and it's great. I don't know what to use it though but I'm still paying for it even when it's not being used. They need some european servers though.
I switched from Xenon to NFO awhile ago, they're a much better choice.
I had a Vilayer server, crazy cheap and the thing never actually lagged
GForce Servers is pretty good they just got started up but no lag at all. Very affordable too, only .93/slot. They also offer a 2 day free trial too so you can give them a try. Link to free trial: http://www.gforceservers.com/clients/cart.php?a=add&pid=15
Really GForce Servers...? Owned by Xenon, wouldn't trust them.
Thanks so much guys. I've already made the switch from Xenon to NFO.
NFO's customer support is superb! You will not be let down. Sorry for this being my first post, I assure I'm not a spam-bot or anything.
Only people who would down NFO. http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6687 On his new server, the chunks load one by one.

To me it looked like NFO guys where trying there best to help them. Storming a forum like that is not a professional way to get help.

NFOServers seem to be handling it quite well though :v:
Never had a problem with NFOServers, amazing hosts.
oh god it hurts to read that
But it's very entertaining.
Looks like they advertise products that they can't provide? 300 player minecraft server which only fits 150. That's not right.
I've been the coder of two servers hosted with NFOServers, and I should say, they looked good for the first weeks. But when the issues that almost every server owner/administrator must face started to come, their flaws started to emerge. Problems: * Their support guys are an army of monkeys. Seriously, most of the times I asked for their help, I ended up getting replies like: "Dunno mate. (But thx for the money.)" And next, fixing the issues myself.... and finding out it was as simple as organic fertilizer. * The server had serious lag issues, and crashed often. * Probably not very good MySQL: We found our database wiped. * Prices (High, too high for what the servers really are.) I also noticed one thing, they offer you a free Murmur server if you order a server with more than 8 slots... Maybe to try to cover their organic fertilizerish server performances? Only good things: * The easy control panel * The incorporated RCON * They allow .DLLs (At least, they did, I don't know if they do anymore) Anyways, after a while I went for DaemonServers as their support was way more professional. (Even tho it took more time to get answers.) And I still am with them. I should say, their control panel is enough simple too, but it lacks something that you can easily fix downloading HLSW. Only real issue, is that only who bought the server can submit support tickets, so, if you want to submit one, you have to: Option 1) Know the owner's account details. Option 2) Contact the owner and tell him to submit a ticket. Option 3) Be the owner. So as you can see, I am telling you to get DaemonServers. (Also because the control panel is the same as Xenon's, so you will not need to get used to it.) I hope to have been of help, see ya. NOTES: Sorry for my bad english, but it's not my first language.
I ordered a 2 core unmanaged VDS, and I have had 0 issues with NFO for as long as I've had it. Support (as far as I can tell) is fast and ends up with good answers. Again, this is based on personal experience, I may have just gotten lucky
I've had a ventrilo with NFO for almost a year and I've never had a single problem with their support, and none of them told me "dunno mate"...are we talking about the same company
I've had over 12 tickets (all my fault, requesting favours or firewall edits on the network) and each one was answered professionally. Had servers with them for about 3-4 months now.
I used NFO for a long time, and I can say I would go with them. Their servers lag hardly any (if at all) and I believe you really do get what you pay for. I ran a 30 slot serious roleplay server, and it ran like a charm. They also have amazing support, and mine responded in 10 minutes or less. And the best part is, if you don't know how to do something, you can just submit a help thread to them, and they will get it done as soon as possible. I would definitely go with NFO.
* Their support guys are an army of monkeys. Seriously, most of the times I asked for their help, I ended up getting replies like: "Dunno mate.
