i crash in all multiplayer games when a shotgun or some other weapon goes off. Even when glass shatters. Is this a problem with a game or the computer?

i got the comp for free im part of some government thing called the Independent Living Program they give us stuff like that and scholarships. Not that you really needed to know that. And its a laptop but still i shouldn't be having this problem. I mean that nuke pack fixed i can launch a nuke and not crash and a friggen shotgun crashes me? And on another part i can play halo 2 on this comp with no video problems. Know of a patch for this crap? or a graphics accelerator program?
