You can't use rapidshare with sv_downloadurl.
You can't use rapidshare with sv_downloadurl.
hmm thats why my head was itchy i knew i cant, so any free hosting with ftp access?
Most free hosts won't allow fastdl linking, simply because it can use so much bandwidth if you recieve lots of users.

Well my GSp (Ukgame.com) gives you a free webspace BUT... you dont need to use it for the fastdl ass its free and fully auto with the company
UKGame is a bad host IMHO. Just pay .30 cents for webhosting or something, you don't need to pay $30 a month for fastdl hosting. http://afreewebhost.com/ http://afreewebhost.com/webhosting.html First month 59 cents.
you dont need to be a customer of ukgame to use it http://www.ukgame.com/redirect/ free redirect system
you dont need to be a customer of ukgame to use it http://www.ukgame.com/redirect/ free redirect system
I don't care. Free generally is bad.
From what I've heard about UKgame, I wouldn't particuarly trust it, the fact they let anyone use it without even being a customer.
PM me if you want some private FastDL hosting. It's hosted in the US, but is fast enough to be fine for European players.
1. Get apache. 2. Open the needed ports. 3. Host the sv_downloadurl yourself.
1. Get apache. 2. Open the needed ports. 3. Host the sv_downloadurl yourself.
That's what I did.
Or if you're on Windows, install IIS. You can do it on any Windows OS. It's easier to setup than Apache for most people. Just go to Add Remove programs, then add windows components.
IIS is less secure then apache.
Not really. I have 800+ servers in my datacenter on IIS. Bad code leads to unsecure stuff. Not IIS itself. If all he's doing is hosting some rar or zip files, he's fine with security.
All of my sv_downloadurl servers use IIS
IIS is fine. If it was so insecure, the biggest software company in the world wouldn't continue to put it out.
All of my sv_downloadurl servers use IIS
Which version of IIS do you use? I've never managed to get SRCDS to make people download using IIS 7, they always seem to skip it. The moment I use an apache server on the same box, it all works fine...
What's wrong with IIS7?
I think IIS 7 is a solid webserver. My web box is actually Windows Web Server 2008 hosting about 30 sites, the performance is outstanding.
Yeah I love Windows 2008. Great OS. I started implementing that in the datacenter a few months ago.

IIS has all of the standard mime's upon install.
Guys, Why not " http://www.svdownloadurl.com/ " ? Yeah yeah, I know, it isn't free, but it's not really expensive I think. And it's REALLY fast.
IIS has all of the standard mime's upon install.
These are some that I had to add. [lua] .ain,application/octet-stream .bsp,application/octet-stream .mdl,application/octet-stream .mp3,application/octet-stream .nav,application/octet-stream .res,application/octet-stream .vmt,application/octet-stream .vtx,application/octet-stream .vvd,application/octet-stream .wav,application/octet-stream [/lua] [editline]06:49PM[/editline]
Guys, Why not " http://www.svdownloadurl.com/ " ? You're probably better off getting a server from a host that offers fast download or getting paid web hosting.
IIS is really good, been using it for ages. Any ways back to the Free Downloadurl On the srcds forums there is a php script that load balance the download, it is pretty basic but does the job. Then you could sign up to multiple free web host sites upload the exact same stuff all the places, but the php script one place, and you are a go. They might not notice it then, as you will not be pulling so large amount on a single host. One major set back is that it would take AGES when you update any thing...
