Since when did so many dumb kids get the money to rent servers?

Is it me or are there at least 2 server advertisement threads here a day, when the sticky clearly says not to post them?
Most of the time, people who do that don't exactly know what Facepunch is. They hear about Garrysmod through a friend, and when they eventually want to try their hand at server hosting, another friend suggests advertising on Facepunch. The kid comes here and makes an account, and his first post is a server ad for his shitty Perp server (that he's hosting from the family Toshiba laptop) in the wrong section. He never posts again.
This is a scenario I paste onto these kinds of situations to try to understand what the person is thinking, and for the most part I'm able to not rip my hair out and bash my computer screen around when I see another damn server ad here.
Ever considered that they simply...don't care? People will see it before it gets removed.
In addition to what MrWhite said, it's possible that they haven't been on a forum before. They might pick the first place to start and create a thread. Without bothering to read stickies, or lurking some. Much like how some people respond to years old threads.
That how I'd try to justify it at least.

That would make sense, its just been bothering me recently.
As long as GMod is around, there will always be threads advertising servers. Fact.
Mummy's credit card. Nuff said.

Mummy should have been smart enough not to give little Timmy her credit card for such a game.
such a game.
So much shooting and killing and blood and cancer and stealing and gangs and shit.
I have a 14-year-old server owner hurling insults at me for our disapproval of him hiring 12-year-old admins...

Most of us know that feel, bro.
Game servers are inexpensive, credit cards are easy to obta- take from your mom and its easy to set up SRCDS on your home pc.
What is inexpensive to us is expensive to little kids, and like they know how to set up srcds.

Depending on where you go you can get a 10 slot server for as cheap as $10 (or even cheaper with hosts that enjoy overselling). In todays culture many parents are simply too tired or cant be bothered to suitably entertain their kids, so they allow them to buy something relatively inexpensive which gives them a fair amount of control.
To put this into perspective, an American World of Warcraft subscription is something like $14.95 per month however you're limited to the content Blizzard provide. $10 lets you style your server, your way.
