As the title says what do you guys think the best os will be for hosting Gmod Servers?
Windows, mos def. Linux has some long standing bugs which can be game-crippling.
Windows server edition. Usually linux is good but with garrysmod there are some recurring issues that are better left avoided.
Haven't seen any other then the jeep/airboat issue to be honest. Well, theres still the issue with case sensitivity on some addons (wiremod, sbep) but you can resolve that with symlinks if you take the time to do that. Windows -is- better overall for Garry's Mod but I've come to find Linux uses less CPU and is more stable for Garry's Mod servers (again minus the bugs mentioned above). For example Breakpoint servers recently had a lagless full 92 player deathrun server running on Linux for Garry's Mod. So I guess ultimately it depends on if you have the time and patience to make the Linux server version work the way you want it to. If not, go with Windows.
Windows Server 2008 R2.
Thanks guys for the replies, but now I have decide what host.

Windows.
Debian 6.
Windows is absolute trash if you plan to host a Garry's Mod server (which I'm going to assume you are) unless you get a host like Limestone who will put up with the insane amount of attacks you'll get
Linux + Limestone all the way
If you're really good with computers use ubuntu if not, use Windows Xp. It has less overhead than 7 and Vista.
I customized my own WinXP 64. I stripped it from everything apart from the things I need to host SRCDS. With everything I really mean everything. Idle it takes up about 100 MB of RAM. Actually yes, sorry. it's an unattended installer with a genuine license I bought years ago. However you can make one yourself using nLite. Use wsus offline to slipstream all the security updates.
I think I might take the time to do it.
It's definitely worth it. I have to correct myself; I said wsus offline for update slipstreaming. But you should use this instead : http://www.windowsupdatesdownloader.com/Default.aspx

I still suggest linux, No licencing problems, Ultra stable, Ultra fast and Uses less Resources than windows Server with similar features, I recommend Debian Stable

Windows tends to use a little bit more power than Linux, but it's all on personal opinion, I would prefer Windows simply because I'm more familiar with it.

Windows 98 [editline]28th April 2012[/editline] Really though, some Linux distro if you're not going to use vehicles
