Dedicated server hangs when launching, "Logging into anonymous gameserver account".

My dedicated server was fine. I've changed nothing, but did run the update tool. After updating it, it launches but hangs, with the last line in the console saying "Logging into anonymous gameserver account".
I googled the line and only found it in console dumps that people were pasting into whatever thread they had started about various problems. I didn't see any postings about this particular line.
Anyone know why it would hang there? It's a gmod server but I doubt that matters since all the postings I saw were different games. I got fed up and reinstalled everything from scratch, but I get the same message in the console...

It appears that with the latest version of srcds there's issues in regards to connecting to the master steam servers.

You'll want to find a copy of the previous srcds binaries if possible.
