This is more of a 'holy crap, it actually still works' than anything else thread, but I fired up GM on my laptop after deleting it, and came down to this:
------------------ System Information ------------------ Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Compaq System Model: Evo N620c DE264A BIOS: 8051 Version 19.22 Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1400MHz Memory: 1024MB RAM Page File: 645MB used, 1816MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: MOBILITY RADEON 7500 Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc. Many other funny visuals involving ragdolls and prop view distances, but that's it for now.
I have a really bad laptop, but I can run it much better than that. Well, Mine is better than yours, that much given, but still...
Better graphics than my desktop :(
That's pretty good, considering laptop. EDIT: HL1 graphics for the victory?
That's crap. Your processor sucks balls at gaming.
That's crap. Your processor sucks balls at gaming.
Read the OP, buddy.
I play gmod on my laptop, It is a Dell Inspiron 1501 with 896MB of ram and an Ati radion x1150HD with an amd sempron at 1.8 GHz
I play 50fps on flatgrass with my 1 and a half year old laptop with all all settings exept filtering and anti-allasing on max, but then of course it costed way more than an equal deskop, over 3 times as much, but that's gaming laptops for you. 2GB ram Geforce Go 7300 160 GB harddrive 17" Widescreen Intel Centrino duo 1.6 Ghz
Hehehe I have a lappy almost the same. It plays GMod Just proves to those who say "Get a new PC" It's not a PC problem.
Any kind of pixel shader ( all post processing effects, I believe ) crashes GM on most laptop video cards of power equal to mine. Newer ones work with them, but mine does not.

Gmod runs perfect for me. I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop. 2GB RAM, AMD Athlon(tm)64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55, 1.8GHz.
I have gmod on my laptop and my tower pc and they both ran with extremely high graphics. 3.6 GB of ram for my tower and 2.4 for my laptop. :P HPs own.
Fails hard on MacBooks. :v:
Fails hard on MacBooks. :v:
Of course.lol MacBooks weren't made for gaming.:v:
Of course.lol Macs weren't made for gaming.:v:
..I regret posting that now. You can run GMod on an iMac y'know.. Or even on a MacBook Pro. Yeah, MBP's are pretty powerful..much more powerful than regular 'ol MacBooks. They look better too.

Thanks for the info. EDIT2: Maybe I should tell my friend about it. I'm sure he'd be happy to play Gmod.:)
Don't even try running Gmod on any Apple product.
I've got a 1.8Ghz AMD Athlon CPU and 890Mb of ram, and I can run Gmod with all settings high and AA off. It runs perfectly fine. It has done for the last year and a half!
Wow, now that's funny. Nice laptop! :D
My laptop can run Half-Life 2 at next to full graphics, as with many other recent games. System specs are as follows: AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Processor, 1.6 ghz 2046 MB RAM ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 Graphics Card, 512 MB 17" 1280 x 800 Wide screen monitor My desktop was extracted from an archaeological dig in nowadays northern Brazil. The Mayans were a brilliant race, and now it seems that their technological prowess was far beyond anything we could've imagined, although it pales in comparison to even the least powerful of today's computers. We believe the Mayans used this computer to schedule sacrifices and e-mail the gods their prayers. Unfortunately, the advent of the Internet would not be seen until several thousand years later, so unfortunately, all their prayers were lost. With no replies from the gods, the people lost hope, and set December 12, 2012 as the final date this world would see (which they scheduled in my desktop. It's still on the calendar), for they thought this combination of numbers was the most unlucky and cursed combination ever conceived.
AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Processor, 1.6 ghz 2046 MB RAM ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 Graphics Card, 512 MB 17" 1280 x 800 Wide screen monitor
Well, no wonder your laptop has no trouble playing it! You've got about twice as much memory than any other laptop, and a Hi-Spec ATI card....in a laptop! Honestly, my laptop only has a stupid on board Intel chip! Not to mention your processor. I've got a 1.7 Crappy Celeron. You've got a Turion X2. However, your Desktop and mine probably aren't the same. QuadCore wins at gaming!!
Lol. My laptop is fairly awesome, 2GB of RAM and a Core 2 Duo processor @ 1.66GHz, but the graphics card is an Intel Media Express 965 or something, which sucks. But at least I can run it at DX8.1, and it looks better than the first post. 9fps is a bit hard to cope with for me though :v:
"laptop's will not run Gmod" this is a myth. why are people still amazed by this. and for the record, you don't need a high spec machine to run it, you just need to look after said machine. slightly below average specs will do.

I'm running a Geforce 420 Go, which was a load of b***s*** even when it was new, but I can run quite a lot of things that I couldn't on other games. Source is such an awesomely flexible thing. My laptop is 8 years old *gasps and dies*
It looks vaugley like Half life 1
It looks vaugley like Half life 1
Better. I'm just gonna be totally honest. I think Half-Life one looked like totally ugly steaming cheezy crap compared to Half-Life two.
This is funny. I think it's blockier than HL1! Once, for some reason, the graphics settings on HL2 got set down real low (I think it was after a graphics driver update) and I got scared because I thought I screwed something up with the models because they looked like something I'd find in my toilet. By the way I run Garry's Mod on my Acer laptop w/ 1.4 ghz dual core 2 gigs ram on mostly high (except for anti-aliasing and stuff) --------- FUCK YOU, grammar nazis
I saw this thread and I was like "why so surprised?" then I saw your specs lol :) I play gmod full settings on my laptop at about 40-50 FPS:D if you're wondering heres my specs: Intel C2D T9400 @ 2.53GHz 4 GB Ram ATI radeon HD 3650
