Running A Garry's Mod Server With Hamachi - Garry's Mod

Look, before you guys say anything about me being a pirate, you can check out my Steam Profile to make sure that I own Garry's Mod. [url]http://steamcommunity.com/id/redawsomeness[/url] The reason I want to use Hamachi on a Garry's Mod server is because my friend and I wish to play Garry's Mod together without other people on the server. The bad thing is that our computers are both really bad, so I decided to use Hamachi as our server host. I know it isn't that good of a program, but it is good enough to hold 2 or 3 people on. I have already set sv_lan0 thing (i forget if there is a space or not now, but I know I have it set properly), and now when I go on singleplayer or multiplayer, when I click tab the server name for the playerlist is my Hamachi Server Name: MiniMooseGMod. He has been on vacation lately while I have been working on this, and can someone tell me if I am doing it correctly? I will take screenshots of it what my screen looks like. Thanks for your help. Also, no space with "sv_lan 0".

thanks the sv_lan0 was the issue. I got it to work but the only thing I don't like about it is that you can't save any of the stuff you build with your friends. I know you can save in singleplayer, but is there anyway to save the stage of the server and disconnect? This is because I don't want to leave on my computer forever and overheat it.

Advanced duplicator?

I don't know what your talking about with the advanced duplicator. Let me describe what I want to do though. I want to be able to shut off my server and still have everything there when we come back, but I'm also working under Hamachi, so that might be an issue. The reason is because I am running off a laptop and I can't leave it running forever.

Hamachi will not help much, If you wanna make it easy just forward your ports(if you know how) And put a password on server with "sv_password <insert password here>" without the quotes of course

Ok thanks, I'll read how to forward ports online. But I also have 2 questions about the server. 1.) Is there a way to save the stage of the server? So that when I turn back on the server all our creations will still be there. 2.) Am I able to forward ports from a laptop?

I have found out how to forward ports and I'm not having much of an issue with that, I'm just having a hard time looking for how to save the stage of a server. Let me explain. Basically, I am not able to run my server 24/7. But whenever I shut off the server, we lose everything we were working on. Is there anyway to save the stage of the server so that when we log back in everything will be there? Also I was actually thinking of this but is there an Addon for Garry's Mod that is an advanced duplicator like Knallex was saying, where it would save the objects that I saved on it, not just lose the memory of that object once I copied another object? Because we could probably do that if there was such a thing instead of saving the server every time.

No there are no State saving in multiplayer If you want to reuse your contraptions Download Adv_Duplicator tool to your server Use it and save your contraptions with it If you start the server again, just take the adv_duplicator again and paste the contraptions from the list This is the only way to save
