Beginner- Need some help - Garry's Mod

I'm new to Garry's Mod Multiplayer and every thing is going great! I have been playing single player sand box getting use to the controls and the tools. I have been doing this for along, long time and know the tools like the back of my hand.I have decided to step up to multiplayer. Every things good, except my friend recommended a server to me for RolePlay. So I've got two questions: 1. What is RolePlay? I don't want to go in there and kill everyone in sight or be killed 'cause I'm trying to build a car, know what I mean? You don't need to go into Detail just a quick over veiw of it would be nice. 2. How do I access a server via IP adress? He only gave me an IP adress. I haven't been able to find a way to search for a specific IP adress in the Filters. Is there a way to find a server through the Comand Prompt thing? Other then this every things good. If someone could help me it would be much appreciated! Thanks.

1. RolePlay is playing as in real life. Like having jobs, gun licenses, arrested. And usually admins and mods are against you if you build car. Because then you should go to build server. Rp isn't for building. 2. for example: 31.52.12.4 , open console and type: connect [ip] = connect 31.52.12.4

im new too and i was wondering why i cant see my addon content i have extracted the files in the correct folders and i dont get a thing!

They might be too old and no longer work. You also have to make sure that the server you are on also has those addons. Most addons are needed both on the server and the client in order to work, although some are only needed on the client.
