Hey everyone, I bought a linux vps and I'm setting up a Garry's Mod server, on ubuntu. I've downloaded everything with the hldsupdatetool and when I try to start the server, I get this error: For anyone who is able or willing to help, all help will be deeply and greatly appreciated by me + the community. Yours sincerely, UniqueGuy
Debian/Ubuntu use old version of GLIBC. Try to run (as root) : apt-get update apt-get safe-upgrade Or download it : http://www.gnu.org/software/libc/
Hey, thanks for the help, but I've downloaded the glibc-2.1.2.tar.gz, but I don't know where to upload it to. I've got FTP on the WHOLE server, so I'm not sure what part to upload the tar.gz to so I can extract it on the vps. Thank you so much :)
you need root shell access
I have root shell access, I also have FTP to it too, I'll use the tar extract through the root access once I find out where I need to upload it. Do you know where I should upload the tar.gz file? I don't have a clue where to install it or upload the tar.gz for extraction. Thanks man :)
you need root shell access
If you paid any attention his screenshot clearly shows he's logged on as root.
RTFM in glibc-2.1.2.tar.gz !
RTFM in glibc-2.1.2.tar.gz !
I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean.. Please could you explain more in depth?
apt-get update apt-get safe-upgrade The guy just told you what to do, type them commands in.
I know the title says [UBUNTU], but I have a Debian server, which has the same problem:
failed to dlopen /***/******/garrysmod/orangebox/garrysmod/bin/lua_shared.so error=/lib32/libpthread.so.0: version `GLIBC_2.12' not found (required by bin/libtier0.so)
I tried doing what was written here, but it didn't work, so I thought perhaps it was targeted for Ubuntu only. Is there something I can do to fix this problem on Debian? And while I am asking all this... Say I was considering changing to Ubuntu instead of Debian, would that be a bad choice to make?
It says invalid operation safe upgrade.. and yes, I did update the apt with apt-get update. I hope I can solve this soon, thanks for the help all anyway.
