Low fps in gmod, but high in other games?

I play Crysis at max with about 25-40 frames, But gmod and max (No AA or AF) I only get 150 max.....
BFBC2, FO3, TF2, Dirt2, Borderlands, all have fps of 60-120 or greater at max

System;

Core2 duo 3.60Ghz
2GB 1333Mhz
5750 1GB GDDR5
Windows 7 ultimate x64 (clean install)
Even with a fresh install of gmod.

Also, in gamemodes like sledbuild and survival, my fps is really low, 20-40ish.

Gmod and the way it is constructed is naturally graphics/memory intensive. Not really much you can do about it.

It don't make sense though, my old 9500GT was always at 60 too, and my current card is hundreds times better.

I should be able to reach 200 easily.

I mean, I see people with a 9800GTX getting 200+ frames, and my card is better then that.

I've downgraded to drivers 9.12 and it seems to be a little higher but still low.

not sure why, my 3870 is two generations older than yours and gets 120+ frames in gmod, dipping lower on some game modes but 40 is usually the lowest it gets.

Exactly why I am so confused. I should be getting 150-200+ fps
