• Engine Error: Host_Error: Overflow error writing string table baseline LuaStringTable

Hello to all Gmod server admins. I'm having a very annoying error with my dedicated server. The server is running Spacebuild2 most of the time and also runs Sandbox from time to time. The server can be running for days and be fine, but totally at random the servers console will very quickly run through all the STools installed and give me this error: The server is running inside a virtual install of Windows Media Centre 2005. I have also tired running the server in Windows Server 2003 and XP Pro. If anyone else is having this issue or would like a copy of the servers crash dump files they can be provided. Again, please help. Edit: Here is a link to the most recent crash dumps: http://coreyredecop.webs.com/crash%20dump%20files.7z
I also have a problem like this where it crashes every 2 hours or so because someone joins. No idea how to fix it. It used to be much worse, rarely happens now.
Did you change anything on the server or did it slow down on its own?
Well I added some addons, obviously.
I think this is the 9th thread I have seen this about in the last 6 months. You need to remove your Addons. You have too many addons and all the lua file names are overflowing the stringtables. Why are you using VMware or something like it for SRCDS? Crash dumps go to garry. (garrynewman@gmail.com)

(garrynewman@gmail.com)
I have removed some addons over time, and I also thought the addons were causing it. That's why it has been getting less frequent for me. What is "VMware"? I run my server using the -console launch option in a shortcut.
VMWare is a program that can emulate almost any install of any available Operating System. I'm using it because I am slowly building an epic server box and I have to buy parts slowly as I get paid. SO, its caused by too many addons? I will try removing alot of the stuff that isn't being used much and update with the result. Thanks so much for the help so far. I got so bad that this was happening almost every 20 minutes :(
Why do you need to emulate a computer to run SRCDS? :downs: Yea remove your addons. Only add the ones you NEED.
Yes, why would you have to make a computer inside a computer to host? That's just stupid.
Yes, why would you have to make a computer inside a computer to host? That's just stupid.
It's not stupid, its because I have no money to go buy a new computer all at once so I'm building one from scratch. Right now all I have is my laptop and the Case for the new server box. Just FYI, it runs quite stable except for that Lua error. Speaking of which, I removed a chunk of addons and it seems to be crashing less. :D

(garrynewman@gmail.com)
That is ridiculous. There are no other addons causing the problem! A load of people have deleted every single thing on their server except for wiremod. The error STILL OCCURS. It even occurs after adv dupe has been deleted, followed by wiremodelpack1. This is a WIREMOD ERROR, AND IS HAPPENENING GLOBALLY. IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

Old thread. Check the post date next time. Just deal with the problem.

This is my addons folder for my dedicated server. As you can see, its a very short list and yet every time someone oher then me joins, I get an engine error. This is a fresh download of all the content so the server is completely up-to-date. This is getting very annoying. I've been told thats its Wiremods fault, too many addons etc... I fail to see the point in making additional content for a game if you can't use it.
Hey FYI don't bump old threads after you make a thread
*facepalm*
FYI dont bump again just to try and be clever.
I too have this problem on my dedicated box. Why do they get overflowed? How hard would it be to bump up the # of threads Gmod uses and/or the size of the cache so that this doesn't happen? I limit myself to only a few dozen addons due to this. I want to have lots of things, but this stops it. (of course, people used to join, and then leave immediately, since it was so much to DL. Not anymore)
