ok, i have my server up, off my internet connection. but i wanna learn how to control a server like give my friend the admin permissions like mine. and how would i give the players my weapons? i just need to know a few things to get started really.

What admin mod are you using? it will tell you in the read me how to give admin and spawn weapons

Duno lol, depends what you prefer, i find ASS mod easier to use but you could use both if you really want to, being able to explode people with ASS mod is fun XD (you can probably do that in ULX, but i have never tried)

Dont set up a server, especially when you didnt even know you need an admin mod /facepalm.
if you can set up a server i think you should, i have been trying to set up a server for allmost a year now and im about to give up, i have tried EVERYTHING but it wont work, ports are open and i have a static ip but it wont go off LAN, so if the server is on the internet you are better with ths stuff than i am XD
well i sort of got my server running as a normal one you see in the internet list. i have addons, plugins and more on it =] and i will give you my server ip soon, i cant at the moment since im away for 2/3 weeks
Okay let me put it very simple for you.
You don't need an admin plugin, BUT it is much easier to manage and control you're server as an admin with the admin plugins.
I recommend ASSmod or sADMIN
but for now just download ASSmod for it is far easier

Have you tried putting Sv_lan 0 in your server.cfg or autoexecute.cfg?
Also, I used a video to help put my server up called How to make a garrysmod server: Painless

ok im back from my holiday/break =] my server is really getting good! its roleplay =] and to get my server working i: port forwarded it, and clicked create server, and in the console i typed sv_lan 0 and heartbeat. and within minutes ppl from america was joining =] ppl in england joined in seconds =]

You realize thats the lan ip right?
urm... is it? and my server is on at 10:30 to 10:30 GMT usually
Look your server up in the server browser and you should be able to see the real IP. Or go to [url]www.whatismyip.com[/url] and add :27015 to the end.
