I'm considering buying gmod, but I heard that it requires a Source game to play. Will Half-Life 2 deathmatch do? I received it for free for having Nvidia card.

Doesn't it say the Portal: First Slice and the bundled Half-Life 2: Deathmatch do not fulfill this requirement.
