Pleas help me. I'm new with gmod and I've been trying to get my addons to work for weeks now. I've already done all the technical stuff but they just don't work. I put them in: computer/program files/steam/garry'smod/gmod files, but that clearly isn't working. Any info you give me will really help.
I didn't have an addons folder at first, so I looked on wiki and it said to make one. So i did and put my files in it, but it still didn't work.
What files did you put in there?
You should only every put the folders in there, and the folders should be named after the addon. Take wiremod for example:
C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/*yourusername*/garrysmod/garrysmod/addons/wire
Inside those folders there must be an info.txt file as well if not, it's not a proper addon and the folders should be copy/pasted into:
C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/*yourusername*/garrysmod/garrysmod/
If you still can't get it, look for a visual tutorial somewhere or perhaps a youtube video.
Okay thanks for the help. Just one more thing, do maps have to be put in another folder, because i put them in addons and got nothing.

The maps go into the "maps" folder. :downs:
Okay one last thing. When i extract the files and put them in my addons folder, the old zipped files are still hangin around. Should i delete them?
