I'm having a somewhat strange problem with Garry's Mod. I can see the master list of games, and if i click game info I can see ping/player info, but if i try to join i timeout after 4 connection attempts.
Basic Fixes I've already tried:
an IP release and renew
Restarting Router
Restarting Steam
Restarting Computer
Unmounting DOD:S (My friend was having some strange trouble after the latest update of DOD:S, his worked after unmounting it)
I've Asked around, and nobody seems to know what the problem is, any help would be appreciated.
This happens on every server you try to connect to?
Yes, so far I've tried a variety of servers ranging from Dark RP, Taco Script, Sandbox, Stranded
Also the servers are in different location globally, so its not a certain area, it seems to be serves in general.
Try finding and attempting to connect to a server as close to where you live as possible.

That is to LA, which is my closest major city, I'm about halfway between LA, and San Diego
Just tried connection to a couple of servers that had pings between 10-20 to no avail.

Click that and see if anything is blocking your connection, such as a Firewall.
It hasn't finished yet, but i can almost guarantee you that nothing is, considering it was working earlier today.

I also kinda have this problem.
I tried to connect to about 10 servers with different gamemodes, it loaded for about 10 minutes everytime then it said [b]"Disconnected: Salvator_Salieri timed out"[/b].
I have 1Mbit/s connection. I think i tried all "tweaks" i can think of: set the DL speed to the max then to around 700k then down to the lowest, changed resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768 then back, turned off console then enabled it, turned off the voice stuff then enabled it, disabled custom file download then enabled it, i set the region to Europe to try the "nearest" servers (i live in Hungary), completely turned off the firewall then enabled it.
These setting changes did not help, i still get timed out no matter which server i try. I sumtimes get timed out even if i wanna create a MP.
Oh and the "steam support analysis" found no errors or anything wrong, the results were:

Could be that your game is simply too slow to load, and you end up getting timed out from the server, try to reinstall Garry's Mod to guarantee that no addons are slowing your game down.
How to reinstall Garry's Mod:

I'm afraid that if i "re-install" and put the addons and maps and stuff back then the same thing will happen so i dunno if reinstall would help.

I forgot to mention that i also tried the following:
if i know that i have the map and stuff that the server needs (for example: i have everything that an RP_Downtown server needs) then i tried to disable the custom download, and go up to that server but it loaded for 10-20 mins then when it reached the "sending client info" part it kept loading like it "fell into" an endless "circle" and nothin happened, nothing changed, and the timeout message didnt came up but i wasnt able to play or do anythin either but to cancel the connection.
I also tried to set the "quality" of textures, shadows, shaders to medium or low, and also "downgrade" the filtering to make the game and pc a bit faster, but this did not help either.
Any other solutions than reinstall?
