Should I buy Garrysmod? - Garry's Mod

For a long time I have been debating on buying Garrysmod or not, I love the cheap price, $10 is really up my ally, but having another game that runs on source, is that really a requierment??? It kind of ruins the cheap price by having to add another 15$ on it. I played Gmod at my cousin's house and thought it was fun, so I would just like your oppenion to buy it or not... This is why we need smartness back, but anyways. Yes, and if you think 25 $ is alot, do you buy any games at all? Ever?

I was planning to buy battlefield 2 with my brother, until my friend recomended garrysmod to me, thus I posted this.

Buy GMod. Also, BF2? How many years old is that game?

Allow me to explain a little more, I don't want to pay an extra 15$ for a game I might not play at all, If I wanted to play a shooter, I would play MW2 on xbox, just to clarify my first reply.

Well, if you want to buy gmod, you WILL have to buy a game you wont play, i say Buy it in a pack. What would you know, maybe you will want tf2? This way its cheaper

You need around 4 games to play Garrys Mod fun and error-free. DoD:S (Day of Defeat) C:SS(Counterstrike Souce) TF2 Half Life 1-2 Ep.

I laughed extremely hard at the above post. Counter Strike is the most common pack in that. You can easily down a HL2 EP1 and EP2 Prop / Materials Pack. Team Fortress 2 Is almost never used in Garrysmod.

Now, the page doesn't say, but you basically need every source game so when you go into other servers the props aren't giant red ERRORs, the skies mirror-fucked lines, and the materials you don't have eye raping pink and black checkerboard mats. Even so, every source game was diffinently worth buying. Except for CSS. I still hate that game. To get the most out of GMOD at max efficiency, you should buy the games in order. CSS HL2, EP1, EP2 TF2 Portal Then the rest can be whatever, since most servers dont use DOD:S, and I have yet to be in a server with zenoclash stuff.

This way its cheaper[/QUOTE] Yeah, TF2 is a good game. I bought it on X-box. The only difference between the 2 I can find is weapon upgrades (EX: sandmand, sandvitch, Bonk!) But, Judging by the good outlook of people on it... I probably will by it.

Just get your source game from a grey market, its not illegal as its a steam key they send you after you pay them and you activate them on steam they are usually cheaper, I don't know if its bannable for me posting this its not piracy or anything.

Just get the official steam version without risking getting a fake copy.

Get GMod and the Orange box. You'll need $5 more to afford both but it is [B]without any doubt[/B] the best $40 you will spend.

Ideally, get the CS:S and Gmod bundle. Most servers and gamemodes run off of CS:S content, and ownership is treated as the norm, rather than the exception. That's what I did, and I've never played CS:S more than two or three times. You don't have to play the game, but the content is a must-have. TF2 and the Episodes are also fairly important, but you can always wait until you have enough money for The Orange Box. If you want the full experience, you're going to want to pick them up at some point. Even now, in the Orange Box, they're ridiculously cheap.

i know your pain. i didnt had a credit card, my parents wouldnt let me buy games trought the internet. no stores around that sold any kind of source engine. theres (no, im not advertising) a site called fpsbanana.com in that site theres a thing called points, you dont need to get them, they are just optional, they are for rankings and stuff, but there are people that just for the sake of the ranking that are willing to buy games for people, for points! i had a non steam copy of gmod, HAD, i really loved the game, so i thought, garry really deserves the money, this is pirating. its wrong, so i started getting points, when i got 20,000 points a nice guy bought me gmod and tf2 (i needed a source engine) for them. imagine, you creating a game, and everione pirates it. youd feel terrible right? now, you can take that link, its [url]www.fpsbanana.com[/url] get some points, it might take some hard work, and get some one to buy it for you. please dont take this as advertising.

[editline]03:22PM[/editline] HL2 DM does not support Garry's Mod as it doesn't come with Source SDK. Never mind, they have updated it to by the looks of it.
