Recently I've given up getting listening servers to work and decided to start using dedicated servers for me and friends to play on. I started following this guide but it eventually became unspecific as to what to do so i need help from you guys.

For instance I already have Garry's Mod, Team Fortress 2, and Counter Strike: Source installed in steam so I would like to avoid having to download the same thing again. All then .gcf are intact and I have GCFScape installed so I can extract the contents from these.
I got to this part of the guide:

So after extracting the contents from the "garrysmod content.gcf" into my "c:\srcds\orangebox\", I created a batch file in "c:\srcds" called "server_update" which contained the following:
hldsupdatetool -command update -game garrysmod -dir C:\srcds
I ran this and then it began downloading I expected it to only take awhile considering I already have all the files required from the ".gcf" apart from "the remaining few server files not included in the GCF file." but after 10 minutes I was only on 4% which can't be right considering I have a avg. d/s of 800kbps.
So what am I doing wrong.
