• Importing all of Left 4 Dead to GMod?

Could be a stupid question, but: Is it possible? To import everything in L4D to Garry's mod? Cause in garry's mod you have complete control over everything in half life 2, you can spawn and make half life 2 monsters attack you. Sorry for bad description =S
:sigh: Left4Dead uses a different engine version, along with .vpk's instead of .gcf's. You can get the models in with a hacky method, but the maps just won't work. Garry is [b]probably not upgrading[/b] to the L4D engine.
He's probably not upgrading because he [U]knows[/U] he'll just wreck everything.
And then we get mad, he has to spend hours behind his computer to fix it and thereby breaking stuff again. So he stays with this engine.
If he does change engine will it mean that people with a not so good computer (that don't match L4D's requirements) will be done for?

Valve (fixed spelling) could take the few minutes (or hours, or days, or whatever) and just convert the files to the ep2 engine readable format, so we don't have to "Hacky method" it.

Well not really,you can't import the maps,but you can import some items,i don't know.left for dead is not a source game,it uses counter-strike:source props,Maybe day of defeat props,and obviously half-life:2 props.

Valve theirselves said they couldn't completely upgrade the Orange Box engine with all of L4D's improvements without killing off support for DX8, but they are going to bring -some- of the improvements. I think Garry should follow their example and update Gmod so it too can make use of Multi-core support.
I dont think its possible however it is for the props you could just search it up on garrysmod.org However dont import anything that isnt made by valve into gmod as thats illegal
Get the gm_mount 2 addon from Avon in the Lua releases section. It mounts L4D/ L4D2 perfectly (not too sure about L4D2 though). [editline]07:02PM[/editline] Holy shit year bump, fuck you bumper.

Garry doesn't seem to like the L4D engine. You can use a mounting mod or get a model pack.

You can use a mounting mod or get a model pack.[/QUOTE] It's not that, it's that more people have a game on the OB engine than have L4D, the L4D engine needs higher specs than the OB engine and none of your original games would be compatible with the OB engine. Garry doesn't want to leave a large proportion of the playerbase behind, so he isn't upgrading.
You see, heres how it works. Garry's mod relies on the source engine to keep it alive with models and whatnot. HL2 engine is the first engine that garry used. The E2 engine was the second to be used, but their both much alike. Then the L4D engine comes out. It says its source, but its different from actual source games. Since L4D runs on a "20,000 NPC" system, they needed a new engine otherwise your PC would explode. And since they don't want the lawsuits agenst VALVe for injuries caused by the explosions, they made a new one. I believe this is what happened. Im not sure.
Gm_mount 2 Then for the maps, decompile them and recompile for Episode 2.
