ok, so i have been using svns for a bit now (i got 11), the tutorial told me that i should make a seperate folder and then right click drag over to my addons folder and use export versioned items here . but now when i update i have to redo that step, what am i doing wrong? (i also tried export all items to no success)
All you have to do is put a folder in the right area in the garrysmod folder, then use SVN checkout. There's no right click drag involved.

Other than that, yeah, it's quite easy. Step by step it goes:

Install SVN program
Create an empty folder
Copy down the SVN link for whatever you want
Right-click folder, select 'SVN Checkout', paste SVN link
Hit Enter, wait for it to finish downloading
You're Done! Yeah!
Also, you shouldn't have to redo any steps this way.
The SVN won't fill any folders but the one you designate it to.
