Memory could not be written - Garry's Mod

okay, I am new to steam just downloaded steam, bought garrysmod and team fortress 2, garrys mod just finished downloading and tf2 is downloading still. I Launch Garry's mod and it goes to the loading screen, says something about character renders at the bottom, and a few seconds later I get this message (the instruction at "0x00010103" referenced memory at "0x09e51484" the memory could not be written" click OK to terminate the program" what's going on here and how do I fix it?? [editline]08:00PM[/editline] note: it says creating render targets, then the message pops up :/ any ideas? [editline]08:09PM[/editline] I am guessing this is Garry's mod 10, just downloaded, all the updates since it auto updates, what should I do, thoughts, Ideas, an actual fix? Have You Restarted steam? If that dosent work launch TF2 once and it might work

Odd that it freezes but you just have to start it not play it have you tried gmod again?

Whoever rated Soul dumb is dumb themselves, this could be a specification problem.

I'm not sure, I contacted Valve and sent them my computer specs, and told them the problem, I am planning on upgrading my RAM which is currently .99 gb, even though the minimum specs is like 512 RAM, also I have a toshiba laptop with a built in graphics card, I think that needs to be upgraded too, what do you suggest

idk even how to find what built in graphics card I have

Win+R -> dxdiag.exe There are tabs with info there. Screenshot System and Display tabs. Then upload them to [url]http://loldepot.com/[/url]

yea i had thet problem with the HL2 so all i did is reinstaled my widws and it started working fine meybe you get thet crash coz your windows is all trashed up! by the way when was te last time you reinstaled it??? (if you install lots of programs then delet them or download lots of stuff you beter reinstal windows et least once per year)

Try running TF2 once and then run Gmod again

He's playing on a laptop, I'm betting his GPU can't handle it.

Try adding -dxlevel 80 into the advanced start options. These can be found after right clicking on your game.

Think it can ever work on this laptop or am I doomed to fail?

-dxlevel 70 Will make the game look like shit, and make the spawn menu's all buggy - but it might fix your problem.

Do you have vista?? I know vista+laptop dosent runs gmod and source game very well...

I had the same problem with my old laptop, it's the CPU, it can't handle the game (happend with all the orange box games)

When it freezes in Tf2 it didnt freeze permanitly its just loading mine does it then after like 5 minates loads

this is running on windows xp, I think its just this laptop, god damnit there goes $100 down the hole

did you tryed to buy a goodd laptop for 100$ i have celled my AINCIENT laptop thet weight over 5 kilograms and culd run only windows 98 for 30$ (wich is a good price 4 thet pice of S***) good laptop costs et least 750$

Build a PC, I got my 8400GS and Pentuim Dual core (Sucks I know ) , With Asus motherboard. and 2gb of ram for $200-$275 Get a better graphics card though, I know mine sucks. I got a 8600GT but it gave me BSOD's, but meh, Im happy with mine.

hey guys i sow a guy celling intel dual core 2.5GHZ 160GB hard drive and 4GB RAM fo only 80 euros (+- 120$) i think its a bit to cheap for this pack and what do you thinc of it (i think thers somthing fishy in there!)
