When I add maps,some of the textures and objects show up as errors or purple and black checkboard.
I know for some maps you have to add extra stuff to your folders to have them work (which i still haven't figured out how to do) but some maps just arent showing these things when all the zip file has is a .bsp file.
Is it just something wrong with the map or am I doing something wrong?
You probably don't have Ep2 or something
Here rises my other problem...
When I purchased/installed Half Life 2 , Episode 1 and 2 along with Lost Coast came with it.
Then when I was having problems with gmod I uninstalled Steam so I could start over. Then when I reinstalled it I reinstalled the games as well but only Half Life 2 and Lost Coast were there. I can't find Episode 1 or 2.

hmm, if hl2 ep 1/2 isont there try in Gmod settings and can u tick them?, and is it a map that requires suming like CSS or somthing, ?
You don't have Counter-Strike: Source, right? If you don't, then most maps aren't going to work properly.
