Im sure you've seen this complaint a lot. I myself have seen it very often.
My issue is: I am missing CS:S textures because I do not own CS:S so it really dulls the online experience of GMod considering how many maps use them, im not asking that I be given the textures because I know that using them is illegal without owning the game. However, custom textures aren't, my point being...why doesn't someone come up with custom replacement textures of the CS:S textures to work in GMod? The likeness doesn't need to be close to the actual textures, but im sure there is a way to make it work. I have no idea how making custom textures and skins works, but it just occurs to me that if you can make skins for CS:S maps(I know his because ive seen them on FPSB) then there MUST be a way to make it work for GMod in, essentially, the same way.
I did ALOT more research than I wanted to and found nothing.
Simple solution: Buy CS:S....Simple answer: NO
I dont want to buy CS:S because I dont want to waste my money on a game that I honestly cant stand, and obviously, will not play.
I know im asking for miracles, but please...there must be a way. I appreciate your time.
JUST BUY THE FUCKING GAME, God, OR play it without CS:S STUFF. Fucking hell, HOW MANY OF THESE THREADS DO WE FUCKING NEED!

Why would I sit back and just play as is if there is a way to make it work? Because im not lazy, I will do whatever I can to make something work if the problem can be solved. And if the problem is solved, then maybe you wont have to read threads about it anymore.
And like I said, im not going to waist money I dont have on something I dont want.

Just suck up and get it, you're not losing anything more than a few £/$/€ and it's a fun game. You get a shitload of resources and a weekend killer.
Maybe you don't want to buy it and you don't like the game, then you have 2 options. Stop whining, suck up and buy it, or, you can try to use hldsupdatetool to get all the game content and do the slow process of copying it into Garry's Mod, which being said is just defeating the point of my post.
If you want to get the models, it might be possible to use hldsupdatetool to download them. Google SRCDS.
If you're not lazy, buy the game. It's not going to kill you.
CS:S is an awesome game as well.
Buying the game is a LAST resort, if all else fails then I will take the lazy way out, but that's the whole reason I started this thread. So that maybe someone would come up with a constructive idea.

I know that, and I thank you for it, but it didn't solve the problem. To be honest, im not really asking for solutions in general. Mainly my question was If its possible to take a custom texture and rename it as the texture the game is looking for and cannot find because I dont have it. If I could I would do it myself, but I have no idea how skinning and custom textures work like I said before.
Im not sure if this would work, but if it does, then I would be surprised that no one has yet to do it. Im not trying to start some kind of flame war, and im sorry if I come off a bit angry. It just seems that such a simple issue could be solved for those who are just barley getting by on what money they have.
