I want to start building.

I don't even really know what to ask here. I just want to know how to make things for garrys mod. I want to eventually learn how to make weapons npcs etc. But of course I need to start somewhere. Maybe just an object.

So basically I want to know what I need to learn, like if there's any languages I need to learn and such. Totally new here but I would like to learn.

OK Then... First your going to need to learn lua if you want to do ANYTHING. If you want to map DL the SDK. Infact DL SDK anyways... If you want to make models your going to need to get the mod tool, and I don't know much about npcs, thats lua I think. Good luck, modding is tough and frustrating. I hope your ready for it :P

First you need to download addons like

*PHX 3

*SVN wiremod

*Adv. duplicator

*Weight STool

*Spacebuild

*Lifesupport

*All the maps you can find!!

Now thats just for the most COMMON addons needed, you can also get ragdolls and what not. Basicly, whatever you want you get.

And if you dont know how to install addons heres a quick guide.

1. Goto your search menu

2. Type in "Steam"

3. wait for one of the steam thingys to say "steamapps"

4. Click on it

5. Then click on garrysmod

6. click on your username: Example: Hugh G. Wreckshon, Hujas, Jebidiah ect. ect.

7. Click on garrysmod again

8. click on the Addons folder

9. download an addon

10. paste the file (NOT THE READ ME) into the folder.

11. CONGRATS! you've installed your first addon!!

And for your learning you should probably look up some youtube vids like

. Tricky's tuts

Those are the main two that you should look at for all the tools and wiremod needs. And after you've looked at there vids you can create some cool stuff. But your going to have to get used to the spawn menu yourself.

Actually I do know the basics like installing an addon. And what I mean by building I mean from scratch. Not actually in garrys mod using duplicators welders and the like. I mean actually make an addon.
