This might be the wrong place, but I dunno... Either way a wiki without a search seems very lacking. Is this planned or? [editline]11th February 2013[/editline] I'm referring to the new disgusting wiki layout that appeared today btw.
There is a search button, it's per section. You click the section you are looking for stuff in, top left there's a search bar.
New default skin is awful. Change your preference monobook. [editline]11th February 2013[/editline] The new skin simply doesn't fit the wiki templates, function pages look like a joke. I mean, what? [img_thumb]https://d16l38yicn0lym.cloudfront.net/f2mV2pPJ5Ci.png[/img_thumb]
There is a search button, it's per section. Insanely stupid but I found it, you have to scroll up to see the menu, the site loads @ http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Main_Page if you then scroll up the menu and search appears. Not obvious in the slightest I only got this: by using my mouse wheel, you can't use the site navigation buttons. Notice the scroll bar, you can't even use that to get to the menu. What was wrong with the old look, it's a wiki. That's how a wiki looks :( I've changed it back to monobook now, thanks for the tip. But having to create an account just to not use an awful and broken theme sucks.
I wouldn't mind if the navigation sidebar stuff was still there
-snip-
garry why did you change the theme, the old one was perfect.
http://wiki.garrysmod.com/index.php?title=Main_Page&useskin=monobook [editline]11th February 2013[/editline] nevermind that doesn't stick
So, why the Comic Sans v2 font?
http://wiki.garrysmod.com/index.php?title=Main_Page&useskin=monobook [editline]11th February 2013[/editline] nevermind that doesn't stick
Quick fix until something is done. http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/158932
omg its like geocities
It's almost like Garry is asking us to use the old wiki hosted on maurits.tv.
It's almost like Garry is asking us to use the old wiki hosted on maurits.tv.
That version of the wiki is awesome, the collapsible button for Hooks and Functions. Everything within few clicks. Why did it go away. :(
That version of the wiki is awesome, the collapsible button for Hooks and Functions. Everything within few clicks. Why did it go away. :(
too cluttered with things relating to wiremod and other such non vanilla mods. Didn't have much to do with vanilla Gmod.
too cluttered with things relating to wiremod and other such non vanilla mods. Didn't have much to do with vanilla Gmod.
I am aware of that. The appearance is what I'm talking about.
It's the damn font. I don't have a problem with the colors. But at least make them work together, and not like someone's first go at web design.
Quick fix until something is done. http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/158932
Is there a GChrome way to use this?
Tampermonkey. And you can actually download it and drag it to the extensions page to install it too. Just Tampermonkey lets you install it by browsing to the script itself.
Is there a GChrome way to use this?
I'm not sure what gchrome is, but it works fine with chrome.
I checked the wiki for the first time in a couple days earlier and almost vomited, what an awful design, seriously who worked on this and thought it looked reasonable? If the design is going to stick at least have function pages back to the old format, change the font, and re-add the search bar rather than having to go to a dedicated search page..If garry/whoever wants some good design work done on the Wiki then head over to Web Development and enlist help from some of the wizards to create a new default style.
I'm not sure what gchrome is, but it works fine with chrome.
"User Scripts and or Addons can not be installed using this site"
Is there a GChrome way to use this?
Yes. Here is a detailed guide: 1. Download the file (optional) 2. Now open explorer, find the file 3. In chrome open up the "Extensions tab" 4. DRAG THE SHIT OUT OF THAT FILE in to Chrome.
How are people supposed to find functions they need in seconds without knowing their name?... That should be listed in the FAQ with such an awful design.
So garry removed all other skins in order to FORCE us to use his new skin, just, wow.
So garry removed all other skins in order to FORCE us to use his new skin, just, wow.
Still works using my script.
For those who don't know what I am talking about:
garry you can't webdev, please stop trying to force this on us.
I don't think he cares, I messaged him and he insists on his skin. I always thought it was obvious a wiki shouldn't consist of more spacing than actual content, a wiki should be compact and not have a huge gray bar at the top which does nothing except taking up space.
Ugh damn you Garry, it's not just a visual opinion or a taste thing we be bitching about. The things so much harder to use and less functional. Not to mention why does each page load to the div that leaves half the logo missing and the menu up top. Also a website should NEVER force you to use the mousewheel to access the navigation menu. Unless I'm missing something that's the only way I can access it on the new theme. Not even navigational contents links *_*. In fact the entire contents section has just vanished? Yet the information is still there just not displayed.
