This isn't asking how to run a server, because I know there are places to look for that.
What I am asking here is if I am up to par with being able to run a server. I have a computer strong enough to run pretty much any game out there, and I have cable internet. When I download files, I get about 650KBs up to a little over 1 mb, but rarely. My average is 685KBs. For what thats worth, I have it pretty decent.
I want to run a zombie survival server that uses bots. The map itself provides the bots. There are a few other servers that do this aswell. But why I want to do it, is first, to choose a different DarkRP weapon set, and second, no dumbass admins who destroy everyones stuff and set prop traps at all the zombie spawns.
See, I can't pay for a dedicated server, but when it gets right down to it, I can leave my server running while I'm not on my computer, then warn people in the server if I have to take it down.
Anyway, besides what I have told here, what do I need to know to make sure I can run a server with decent ping and such?
I've run servers ok in some other lower end games, but I know here its a bit more complicated.
Well, My downloads go at 150Kbps (I know, it sucks) and it can host 2 people with hardly any lag. And it can host 3 people lagless without any physics collisions. Yours should host around 5 or 6 without much lag. Otherwise, I'm clueless.
ya iv got kinda the same prob but when i make one my friends cant join cos it says server is not responding which is bull sorry that this message dosent help your prob it might a little i think you have to download admin mod or something can some one get back to me about my post pls
