When I fire a gun in gmod, it lags like hell and even worse when I shoot down doors on rp servers. So my question
would adding
-dxlevel 80
to the launch options get rid of some or lots of the lag? Or will it be a waste?

Post your specs.
Then we can see if it's not something else causing the lag.
This is how you can stop lag. Get a connection that isn't free to everyone at Wal-Mart.

My specs are shit so that's what's causing it I just wanna know if there's a way of stopping it, I'm custom building a pc so I'm not upgrading this one.
