• Home Run GMod Server Specs Suggestions?

Hey guys, I am considering trying to run a Gmod sandbox server from home on a machine I don't use anymore. I am looking to host it for at least 20 people, and 15 at the minimum. What kind of computer could I use to run this? Would an old Windows Xp machine with 1 gig in it work for now? I know about computers, but I'm not sure about all of the strengths and things used to run a server. Help Me Out Techies?
Well why don't you tell us first what the machine's specs are that you would like to host it on and we can tell if if you should bother upgrading certain parts or not. also, go to speedtest.net and post that here.
I would be working with a Vostro 200. Specs are
HERE
and here is
speedtest
. Don't even try. Power aside, 7.70Mb/s isn't suitable for a server. Especially if you're also using it for web browsing or anything else.

I'm going to assume my upload isn't quite impressive enough either? Just a guess.
1gb ram is way too low. If you have a light-weight Linux you can probaly manage 6-8 players. Your upload isn't too good, but you should still be able to host 16-20. (Except server)

If it's going to be heavily used pay more from NFO, or as the 50 folks behind me will say Elpis. Both are fine.

Just go to NFO they have a clan based pay set up so people can donate to you to help pay for the server if needed. I run a 10 slot build server and they have been fantastic for me. In the future if I ever wanted to host a home built machine-based server, it's still an option. Oh and NFO usually does sales where you can buy server slots for half price, so i host mine at $10 a month. :D
Wow, you guy's have been super helpful! I guess I will stick to my $6.00 a month 15 slot from Vilayer for now. But seriously. Thank You Everyone :) You all take it easy.
