What the hell is going on?

For some really strange reason, when I went to run Garry's Mod, it just said "Preparing to launch Garry's Mod.". Alright. Makes enough sense to me. However, after this message goes away, the game doesn't load. Let alone appear. Seems strange. It says I'm "In-Game" to my friends, which, also, is strange. Now, what's causing the problem? I went to my 'garrysmod' folder in the STEAM folder to find this folder tree:

garrysmod

>garrysmod

.>gamemodes

..>sandbox

...>entities

....>entities

.....>gmod_light

...What the hell?!

Sorry if that's hard to understand, but those are the only files in my Garry's Mod directory, and it's the best I can do without waiting for Garry's Mod to download all over again to get a screenshot, something I've tried numerous times so far. It was just fine this morning, and I haven't downloaded a single addon or done anything to the computer for at least a day.
This is really starting to frustrate me. Please help.

EDIT: This is happening with all STEAM games.

EDIT: Nevermind, just had to reinstall STEAM...
