Hey, I ran a HLDS update on my server a couple of minutes ago, and it seemed to update fine with no issues, but now whenever I try and join, I get the "connecting to server" screen, and I am then booted back to the main menu. A few of my friends are getting the same problem. Here's a condump of me trying to join (client):
Mounting hl2.. OK Mounting cstrike.. OK Mounting dod.. No permission Mounting ep2.. OK Mounting tf.. OK Mounting episodic.. OK Mounting hl2mp.. OK Mounting portal.. OK Mounting lostcoast.. OK Mounting hl1.. No permission Mounting hl1mp.. No permission Mounting zeno_clash.. [editline]28th October 2010[/editline] I think the sb_dontshow_maxplayer_warning is due to me having some spacebuild bs or whatever downloaded, but I'm 100% sure it's unrelated to the fact that I can't join my server.
I'm getting this too.
I'm guessing it's related to "Fixed an exploit that allowed people to send fake server messages to clients". [editline]28th October 2010[/editline] Yeah, it is. Only the servers are getting the updated engine library for some reason. Here's the old one if you want to replace it.
I'm getting the same thing after running an update. I had the server working 3 hours ago fine.
Getting this error as well.. I hate updates :(
Garry, fix this already so I can sleep!
Argh, my server provider won't let me edit the engine.dll
Hooray for having a home run server!
You have to shut down your server first then delete then upload.
So we are waiting for the fix eh?
Old engine dll is on mod installer for xenon now.
Idk what you guys are saying but i can connect fine to my dedicated server after update.
Idk what you guys are saying but i can connect fine to my dedicated server after update.
You will only receive the updated engine.dll if you use -verify_all.

So... when we getting a update to fix this "gmod update"
My server and client are both reading the same version now and It's working with the updated engine.dll
Has an update been released? I'm getting "Server has not updated to the most recent version." on all my servers now Running Steam update on Sandbox does not download anything. I did install the engine.dll fix provided by server hoster, on the Sandbox server, but it did not fix anything.
Old engine dll is on mod installer for xenon now.
Short Version: Using that ends in no one being able to connect to server with the "Server has not updated to the most recent version." message. ("** Update Fix" on your mod installer list?) Long Version: So everything was running fine today until someone said there was an update. Ran update and OB Dedicated Server updated from 69 to 70, which was the only thing that changed according to the update window. After that was done no one could connect due to the "Host_Error: Unexepected authentication protocol". Found this thread and used "** Update Fix" on Xenon mod installer to get the old dll and now no one can connect due to the "Server has not updated to the most recent version." message. Steam restarted several times to see there were any Gmod updates. So far nothing. Also running steam update again shows nothing changed. Guessing it needs -verify_all to undo the "** Update Fix".
