The problem with that is new uploads don't really get attention unless they are tagged heavily, have pretty pictures, and sound cool from the description or name. Recent uploads allows people to see new files and they might see something they like enough to click it. Of course, that doesn't mean there isn't garbage uploads, but the point remains - free exposure.
