• Autoexec.cfg and graphical settings

For reasons unknown to myself, I am unable to play Garry's Mod unless I set "-dxlevel 95" in the launch options. This causes no discernable side effects, except that I am unable to permanently set graphics to levels that my computer can handle. They reset to the default levels every time I load the game. I've gone around the internet, looking for autoexec stuff, and I've managed to come up with this so far: mat_picmip -10 r_shadowrendertotexture 0 mat_blooM 0 cl_showfps 2 mp_decals 256 r_waterforceexpensive 0 r_waterforcereflectentities 0 mat_forceaniso 0 Mat_hdr_enabled 0 mat_trilinear 0 My question is, how do I force the game to use low shadows, shaders, and no HDR? I haven't been able to find any console commands that would do that for me. Also of note, I have model detail high, and texture detail very high. This works just fine. But when HDR and Shadows are set at their default level (which is apparently "Full HDR + Bloom" and "High" shadow detail), my game lags to no end. I've been putting in the settings that I want every time I run Gmod, but I would prefer not to have to do that, since I forget often, and then I'm stuck with lag; if I try to change the settings while actually ingame, my game locks up and crashes.
Have you tried doing -dxlevel 80
I have; it causes massive glitching with Derma and particle effects. I get wireframes and transparencies that shouldn't be there. Same with -dxlevel 70, although it's even worse there.
